The more balanced you are the greater sense of overall well being you will have!

To manage your stress some of these may help!

Getting in shape mentally as well as physically is important to combat stress over the long term. You can do this by:

  • Pace Yourself – Take time out

-Reduce body tension and other stress symptoms by practising any number of helpful relaxation techniques.
-Re-evaluate the stressful situation in a positive light, by focusing realistically on what you can and cannot control or do.

  • Build Mental Muscle

– Be honest with your personal needs, limitations and abilities
– Turn negative obstacles into positive solutions
– Remember there are many choices and solutions to a problem
– Budget your time and energy. You can’t always give 100% all of the time.

  • Balance Work with other Pleasures

– Have some fun!!!!!!!!
– Be active and enjoy yourself in the process
– Re-visit a hobby or leisure activity you used to love
– Eat well and treat yourself.
– Keep connected to friends and family (pets included)

  • Turn Stress into Strength

– Do something each day that leaves you energized and refreshed. Go for a long walk, take a hot bath, talk with friends.
– Learn assertive techniques and practise saying no when asked to do something you really can’t handle at this time.
– Practise doing things right now, rather than worrying about them all day long.
– Keep your mind focused on the present, doing one thing at a time, starting with your priority list.
– Learn a variety of relaxation techniques and practise taking frequent relaxation breaks.
– Become aware of the demands you place on yourself, not just the ones that others seem to be imposing.
– Learn to see other’s points of view and help others to appreciate yours.
– Take time to be alone on a regular basis – to think, assess, and explore your options and then design a personal action plan for you.
– Ask for help and seek support and counselling if you feel you are unable to cope.

  • The Key to Work-Life Balance – is STOP dealing with work as something outside of your life…It is part of your life and needs to be balanced accordingly.
  • Keep things simple – there are really only five major areas in your life…five fingers…Self, Family, Community, Work/Education, and Leisure
  • Give validation to your innermost knowing
  • Pay attention to your feelings of Dis Ease
  • Take a look at all areas of your life, not just work, or not just family, treat your life as a whole not a part of…
  • Identify areas that are robbing you of time for things of importance to you
  • Learn to delegate, Identify and use your resources…are you really the only one that can do everything better than someone else…or are you so in control that you are out of control.
  • Identify your goals and dreams, write them down and share them with the important people in your life. Let others in on your plans…you don’t have to be an island.
  • Avoid taking on new tasks or activities that will not assist you in achieving your goals and dreams
  • Separate the have to’s from the want to’s
  • Be realistic in your estimation of how much time you need to accomplish what you have set out to do
  • Learn to say “NO” or if you can’t say no, respond “I’d like to but I can’t”
  • Give yourself extra time for tasks and activities to allow for the unknown
  • Most of all…Live, Laugh, and Love…

NINE PRINCIPLES OF SUCCESS

1. Have a Dream – Create a vision for the future NOW. People of excellence have goals and allow those goals to determine their future.

2. Develop a Plan – Organize your thinking and write it down. Those who strive for excellence have a very clear and detailed agenda of every step they need to take along the way.

3. Control your Focus – Don’t do too many things at once or try to please other people. Learn to determine the difference between time well spent and time lost to trivial pursuits. Your use of YES and NO will determine your destiny.

4. Take Personal Initiative – Act as if it all depends on you and be decisive. The fact is that decisive, self determined individuals typically prevail and rise to the top because many people are not so.

5. Practise Self-Discipline – Stay on target no matter what, even if you think you’ve “gotten there”.

6. Learn to Budget – Put your time, energy and money behind your plan and gain control. All great achievers control their time. It is not necessarily how long we work that matter, it is what we get done in that time period that counts.

7. Take Risks – Above average people learn to take risks and demonstrate enthusiasm and excitement when doing so.

8. Don’t quit After Success – Press on and learn to make persistence a habit. Remember, average people tend to stop after small victories, while successful people understand that small victories really represent opportunity to do more.

9. Enjoy Yourself – Don’t let the small things get you down. Keep the faith and have fun.

THE TONGUE CAN BE YOUR WORST ENEMY
Your words, your dreams, and your thoughts have power to create conditions in your life. What you speak about, you can bring about. If you keep saying you can’t stand your job, you might lose your job. If you keep saying you can’t stand your body, your body can become sick. If you keep saying you can’t stand your car, your car could be stolen or just stop operating. If you keep saying you’re broke, guess what? You’ll always be broke.
If you keep saying you can’t trust a man or trust a woman, you will always find someone in your life; To hurt and betray you. If you keep saying you can’t find a job, you will remain unemployed. If you keep saying you can’t find someone to love you or believe in you, your very thought will attract more experiences to confirm your beliefs. If you keep talking about a divorce or break up in a relationship, then you might end up with it.
Turn your thoughts and conversations around to be more positive and power packed with faith, hope, love and action.
Don’t be afraid to believe that you can have what you want and deserve.
Watch your Thoughts, they become words.
Watch your Words, they become actions. Watch your Actions, they become habits.
Watch your Habits, they become character.

Beauty, vibrancy, self love, personal power, empowerment, acceptance!  Wow, a whole lot of words that we are supposed to apply to ourselves in this world today, or at least this is what the experts tell us, and then we are told to go inside and you will find what it is that you are looking for…….inside where?

This became my challenge a few years ago, and at that time I wished that someone would have just presented me with a few explanations and a way to find these things that are so important to me!

Well here it is for you, and after the soul searching I have done, this is at the base of all things that need to be done, to find your personal beauty, light and vibrancy today.

It all begins with one question!

  • What do you like about you?

  • When I first had to come up with what I liked about me, I sure ran into a whole lot of self inflicted roadblocks.  I found it was much easier to determine what I didn’t like about me, however, once I got on the roll of accepting that along with the negative there are positives this became easier.
  • The next thing that I needed to do was become consciously aware of the things that I like about me and make a mental note when they were evident to me, and then take the time to observe  how other people responded to me and what I was recognizing in me.
  • I then acknowledged that finding my beauty and vibrancy had nothing to do with what anyone other than me, recognized and accepted.
  • I accepted that what other people think about me is none of my business.
 and

The final steps to take were:

  1. Acknowledge everything I liked about me as being me.
  2. Recognize where this acknowledgement came from, the inside of me.
  3. Accept the acknowledgement without talking myself out of it.
  4. Realize that no one other than me needs to like me.
  5. Know that my thoughts move me forward to physical actions, that the physical actions I take, lead me to the emotional output of the thought and action, and when the thought, action, emotion all line up and are in synchronicity with one another, this leads to the radiance , beauty and vibrancy that moves forward from the inside of me to everyone and everything I encounter in my life on the outside of me.
  6. When I have this lined up and balanced the beauty and vibrancy of me radiates from me to all I encounter on my journey through life.
  7. I then know that I have turned on my inner light switch of self love I become all I am in this moment full of beauty, and vibrancy!
  8. When my light seems to be dimming or switched off and I want my beauty and vibrancy back, I simply go through this little exercise again, and amazingly the light gets switched back on again!

There have been many times in my life when reality and success seem to be miles apart and cause great stress, worry and anger for me in my life.  What I have found necessary for me to do is follow the principles of success outlined here, including expressing my feelings of insecurity, fear and anger when appropriate.  Have you every felt angry because of not dealing with the reality in this moment around being successful, right here and right now? If so try this out and observe what happens when you have steps to take, a plan to follow, and your reality to be a part of.

COMPONENTS OF SELF ESTEEM

Trust, Self Nurturing, Autonomy, and Intimacy

Trust starts early in life and is based on how we are received into the world. We learn to trust ourselves and begin to have a realistic trust of others. We begin to develop confidence in the self’s ability to choose others who are safe or who will not injure or exploit us.

  • Self Nurturing is born of trust. We learn how to be caretakers of ourselves. Self nurturing is an essential ingredient of self esteem.
  • Autonomy comes from mastery. We work through necessary dependencies to a growing independence. We find interdependence when we can separate ourselves from others around us and yet retain vital connections to others.
  • Identity Grows. We begin to know who we are and who we are becoming. In each stage of our life, self-esteem undergoes change and growth. We feel more solid as our identity grows.
  • Intimacy develops from identity and the need for connection. It is the ability to relate closely and to know the limits of closeness. We yearn to lose ourselves in love and yet we need to retain our own separate essence.

Healthy self esteem involves all of the above elements. If we lose those characteristics or never develop them, there is a significant absence of self esteem. Low self esteem affects our body, mind, emotions and spirit. The creation of these characteristics takes understanding what they are and working on them.

MY DECLARATION OF SELF ESTEEM
I am me.
In all the world, there is no one else exactly like me. There are persons who have some parts like me, but no one adds up exactly like me. Therefore everything that comes out of me is authentically me because I alone chose it.

I own everything about me…..my body, including everything it does; my mind, including all it’s thoughts and ideas; my eyes, including the images of all they behold; my feelings, whatever they may be……anger, joy, frustration, love, disappointment, excitement; my mouth, and all the words that come out of it, polite, sweet or rough, correct or incorrect; my voice, loud or soft; and all my actions, whether they are to others or to myself.

I own my fantasies, my dreams, my hopes, my fears.

I own all my triumphs and successes, all my failures and mistakes.

Because I own all of me, I can become intimately acquainted with me. By so doing I can love me and be friendly with me in all my parts. I can then make it possible for all of me to work in my best interests.

I know there are aspects about myself that puzzle me, and others aspects that I do not know. But as long as I am friendly and loving to myself, I can courageously and hopefully look for the solutions to the puzzles and for ways to find out more about me.

However, I look and sound, whatever I say and do, and whatever I think and feel at a given moment in time is me. This is authentic and represents where I am at that moment in time.

When I review later how I looked and sounded, what I said and did, and how I thought and felt, some parts may turn out to be unfitting. I can discard that which is unfitting, and keep that which proved fitting and invent something new for that which I discarded.

I can see, hear, feel, think, say and do. I have the tools to survive, to be close to others, to be productive, and to make sense and order out of the world of people and things outside of me.

I own me, and therefore I can engineer me. I am me and I am O.K.
